Lyoto Machida Vs Shogun Rua Fight Video
Lyoto Machida pipped his arch-rival Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in a hard-fought heavyweight championship at UFC 104 on Saturday at the Staples Center.But the unanimous decision taken by all three judges generated a lot of heated debate with patrons swayed by Rua’s improved performance in the Octagon. The final score was 48-47.
The underdog Rua managed to do what past opponents hadn’t. He was at his best. Quick on his feet, he delivered some bloody punches on Machida, who had not lost a round in seven UFC bouts prior to this one. And during the five rounds bout there were moments when it looked that Rau will win. But the final result said otherwise.
Upset with the outcome of the thriller, Rua said: “My corner told me that I was winning all the rounds. I feel like I won this fight, but a fight is a fight. What can I do?”
The champion, who was really battered by his tough contender, admitted it was his most difficult test to date inside the hallowed Octagon. Emboldened by the win, he welcomed the idea of a rematch – withdrawing applause from the audience.
“Whenever he wants,” Machida said. “No problem.” Rua and supporters shouldn’t get disheartened he has another chance to prove his mettle.
