Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel’s injury to his left leg isn’t believed to be serious, a league source told National Football Post following the initial diagnosis.

More medical tests are expected to be conducted on Cassel today, but the Chiefs may have dodged the proverbial bullet on this one if the immediate prognosis turns out to be accurate. X-rays conducted on Saturday night revealed no broken bones.

Cassel was hit from behind by Seattle Seahawks defensive end Brandon Mebane on Saturday, leaving the game to go to the locker room for treatment and didn’t return.

The Chiefs signed Cassel to a six-year, $63 million contract during the offseason after acquiring him in a trade from the New England Patriots.
