Nicole Powell enjoying All-Star experience
Everyone in Dallas has a travel story to complain about, but Nicole Powell was thrilled to inform hers.
Right after 15 hours of flying from Turkey, where she plays for the pro club, Powell is following up her 1st WNBA All-Star season having a NBA All-Star experience this weekend. She is teaming tonight with Tyreke Evans and Chris Webber for Sacramento in tonight’s Shooting Stars competition.
“I’m so excited to be here,” said Powell, a Phoenix native, who played at Mountain Pointe High. “It’s a quick trip but so worth it. My mom (Ruth) got to come. I get to hang out and share it with her so it’s worth it.”
Powell was the WNBA’s eighth-leading scorer last season to the Sacramento Monarchs, who disbanded. She was taken 1st within the dispersal draft by New York.
Her Sacramento team may be the least favored with the four in tonight’s contest.
“Everyone is totally sleeping on us,” she said. “It’s ridiculous.”
