He stretched his file run of championships to 5 straight by creating the fewest blunders in Sunday’s time finale.
Johnson trailed Denny Hamlin by 15 points coming into Homestead-Miami Speedway, but captured yet another title by running the cleanest race with the 3 championship contenders. He completed 2nd to race winner Carl Edwards and claimed the championship by 39 points about Hamlin.
Kevin Harvick was 3rd inside the race and 3rd inside the ultimate standings, 41 points behind Johnson.
