Derek Boogaard has passed away at the age of 28
Terribly tragic news in the hockey world tonight as New york Rangers forward Derek Boogaard has passed away on the age of 28.

Boogaard was discovered dead within his apartment in Minneapolis by family members. No cause of death is known at the minute, but an autopsy will be performed.
Boogaard played 277 NHL games between the Minnesota Wild and Rangers. He final played on Dec. 9 and missed the remainder of his 1st season in Ny with a concussion he endured after a fight with Ottawa’s Matt Carkner. Called “The Boogey Man” for getting 1 from the league’s toughest fighters, Boogaard dropped the gloves 61 times throughout his six-year NHL career.
The autopsy final results will not likely be recognized for a couple of weeks.
NCAA Hockey Tournament 2011 Bracket Update
With Saturday’s NCAA hockey tournament games in the books, two spots in the 2011 Frozen Four have been determined. The first spot went to Minnesota-Duluth, which beat Yale by a score of 5-3. The other spot went to Michigan, which beat Colorado College, 2-1.
In two weeks in St. Paul, Minnesota-Duluth and Michigan will play the winners of Sunday’s two games, which were set up by the other results from Saturday’s games.

For nearly two weeks, workers in Michigan Stadium have planned for every conceivable scenario that could pop up for Saturday’s Big Chill at the Big House.
Saturday’s Big Chill At The Big House will see a sold-out crowd surround the temporary rink in the center of Michigan Stadium. Fox Sports Detroit crews began installing the equipment Friday they will use to broadcast the game.
