As if the fall television season doesn’t have DVRs already jam-packed, golf fanatics across the country will likely be putting their DVR’s on the graveyard shift for this weekend’s Ryder Cup. Featuring the world’s best golfers from Europe and the us, the players compete against every single other for the prized Ryder Cup title.

Protection opens up on ESPN and continues through the weekend on NBC, that will air the tournament reside overnight as properly as on a delayed broadcast for US viewers.

Tiger addressed the people in the room as his friends saying everyone inside the room gets the right to be critical of him. In the Tiger Woods apology video, the golf star is seen choked as he offered a deep apology for “irresponsible and selfish” behavior he engaged in.

Many people who were unable to see today’s press conference will continue to wonder “what did Tiger say” in his public speech, since it’s been so long since they’ve heard from the golf star.  The Tiger Woods Apology Video available here from Fox News shows Tiger’s complete apology speech made earlier today.

Tiger Woods car accident ends an unfortunate week for the star golfer. According to TMZ.com, Wood was in an accident in his 2009 Cadillac SUV, and ….

in “serious” condition after being involved in a single car crash near his home in Florida early this morning.

The crash occurred at 2:20 AM in Windermere. He was taken to Health Central Hospital with facial lacerations.

Woods struck a fire hydrant and then a tree on a neighbor’s property. The fire hydrant is reportedly less than 100 feet from his driveway.

Police say alcohol was not a factor. There were no signs of alcohol on the scene. We’re told the police have yet to speak to Tiger.

The latest is that he’s released from the hospital.

Additionally, Woods was traveling at less than 33 MPH, according to the Telegraph UK.

UPDATE: The AP reports that Tiger Woods wife Elin Nordegren used a golf club to smash the window of the car and help him out of it.

It was a hard week for Tiger Woods, who last Saturday was inducted in the Stanford Sports Hall of Fame, then watched as his Stanford Cardinal lost to the Cal Golden Bears, 34 to 28 in “The Big Game.”

Then Woods was the focus of an Internet rumor of an affair by the words of one Rachel Uchitel, who the Hollywood Reporter says is bascially full of it and has a habit of such claims. Then finally this accident.

Jason Hargett’s shot Tuesday on the 150-yard hole cut in the driving range at Red Ledges golf resort near Heber City was the winner. He hit a nine-iron about 10 feet past the hole and the ball rolled back and in, giving the 35-year-old restaurant manager the $1 million.

The contest was part of the Mark Eaton Celebrity Golf Classic.

Hargett says he almost didn’t play in the tournament because of a sore wrist and ended up using his brother’s clubs.

The tournament benefits a fund at the University of Utah’s Diabetes Center.

That will probably make for great television on your high-def Sony. For a construction cost of $129 million and membership fees in the half-a-million-dollar range, the Bob Kite-/Tom Kite-designed Liberty National better have that something special. Apparently, however, it’s not necessarily the golf course.

Florida in New York. GolfWeek’s architecture critic, Bradley Klein tells the New York Daily News, “It’s a golf course that looks like it came from Florida.” Say no more.

The layout offers a “very dramatic setting,” Klein notes, “but it’s not local, it’s not native. You don’t feel like you’re a part of the immediate environment.”

Sounds like if you’re looking for Miami Beach in New York City, this course is for you. Not so much, necessarily, for The Barclays participants, including Tiger Woods.

Woods tells the Daily News he finds the course, “interesting,” but not necessarily in a good way. Vijay Singh says the course “will grow on people.” Like a wart?

One shot at a time. Singh is defending champ at The Barclays, which Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, NJ, hosted in 2008. He suggests golfers get over themselves and play “one shot at a time.

“You go out there and start criticizing the golf course, then you might as well not show up,” Singh tells the Daily News. That’s good advice for Singh’s opponents on the tour as well as any Boston golfer on any New England golf course.

The mounded greens of Liberty National and wind off the water may not be to Woods’ liking. But he committed to competing this week and he and the other millionaire golfers will have to suck it up and make the best of competing for a purse of $7.5 million on a gimmicky golf course.

The playoff system known as the FedEx Cup has received some scrutiny in years past as some tour players have not been happy with the format.  The format was again revised this year and here is a brief breakdown of the rules.

The playoffs are made up of four tournaments (The Barclays, Deutsche Bank Championship, BMW Championship, and the Tour Championship) with the Barclays starting with the top 125 golfers in the current FedEx Cup Standings.  Each week the field will be reduced; to top 100 in week two, to top 70 in week three, and then to the top 30 for the Tour Championship.  Points are awarded each week with first place receiving 2500 points.  The points will be reset for the Tour Championship with the first place being awarded 2500 points down to 210 for the 30th place golfer, so each player in the 30 man field has a mathematical chance of  winning the FedEx Cup at the start of the Tour Championship.

Did you get all of that?  Regardless of the points we are in for some great golf over the next month as the grand prize for winning the FedEx Cup is $10 million, so the tour’s best will be giving it their all.  Below you can view a profile of the top ten golfers in the current FedEx Cup standings.

Tiger Wood was playing in front of him, and Rory McIlroy’s mother and father and girlfriend and agents were positioning themselves in discreet places to cheer him on. Then, disaster, Masters-style: a four-putt double bogey on the par-3 16th and a triple on the par-4 18th, after two swipes out of a greenside bunker that you’d never have expected him to find in the first place. (He smashed his drive.)

He seemed like he was having a great time, playing with Anthony Kim and Ryo Ishikawa, and his name looked right at home on the leaderboard. But with scores of 72 and 73, this will likely be a year for learning. Anyway, it’s not all bad. He’ll be the only teenager playing on the weekend.

*Update, Saturday 10:40 a.m.: On Friday evening in the press center, rumors that McIlroy might be disqualified started circulating. According to the Associated Press, officials reviewed his adventures in the bunker at 18 for a possible violation: “His second shot landed in the bunker on the right side, and McIlroy left it there with his third shot. He kicked at the sand in disgust — a no-no according to the rules, which forbid players from testing the surface before hitting any shots in a hazard. That could have disqualified him. But after a review, the rules committee decided no violation had occurred.”
