Akron Marathon 2009 results

This year’s Road Runner Akron Marathon in Akron, OH was held today with 10,000 runners participating in the event. This was an 87 percent rise in registration since last year.

The Akron Marathon Charitable Corporation is an Ohio non-profit corporation. Its mission is to generate net revenue from the conduct of the annual marathon and related events as well as to promote health and fitness.

The full 26.2-mile marathon had an incredible registration response. The half marathon (13.1 miles) had to be capped at 3000 registrations. There is also a 5 person relay which is 26.2 miles split among 5 runners.

The Road Runner Akron Marathon, Half Marathon & Team Relays began today at 7 a.m. at 177 S. Broadway. The popular free Kids Fun Run, open to children 14 or younger, started at 9 a.m. at the Spaghetti Warehouse restaurant and finished at Lock 3 Park.
